About

My name is Rachael Hallas and I am born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Since I was in grade school myself I knew I wanted to be a teacher. My goal came true when I was hired right after I graduated from Arizona State with my bachelors degree. During my first two years of teaching I have experiences many different things but had the itch myself of being a student again. Going back to school was important to me because higher education was never a large priority with my family and I wanted to change that narrative. After having the conversation with my family and close friends, I made the decision and goals with myself to not only get my master's but also earn my PhD. These goals follow the model I create for my students as well. It is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time driven. I am forever thankful and know that I would not have these opportunities without the love and support of my family.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am currently a kindergarten teacher in the Deer Valley School District. I plan on being a classroom teacher for a few years with the goal of one day becoming an elementary instructional coach. I love being involved with the children in the classroom but recently met an instructional coach who opened my eyes into a new world that I feel I can make a large impact with.

Graduate school interests

Right now I am pursuing my master's degree in the Mary Lou Fulton Gradate School program at Arizona State University. With this degree I am hoping to use it to take some steps in the right direction to eventually become an elementary instructional coach. Once I am done at ASU, I plan on continuing in higher education and enrolling in the PhD program at Penn State University! We Are!

Outside the classroom

Some of my personal hobbies that I enjoy when I am not working are different forms of organization. I love reading whether it is on the beach or a cozied up on the couch. I also enjoy shopping. Since the pandemic, I have taken up a recent hobby in cooking as well as baking. Lastly, one things that I am always in the mood for is a good board game!
