About

I am a dedicated professional and scholar passionate about Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and social work, driven by the transformative potential of evidence-based interventions. Currently, I work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in an autistic support classroom, specializing in teaching essential social interaction skills to children with autism. I see these skills as crucial for enhancing independence, inclusion, and quality of life.

My academic journey emphasizes ethical practice, cultural competence, and continuous professional growth. Through rigorous research and reflective practice, I strive to bridge theory and real-world application, especially focusing on ethical dilemmas and culturally responsive approaches. My participation in Honors coursework, such as the seminar "Critical Thinking for the Professional World," highlights my commitment to integrating critical thinking and practical problem-solving into professional settings.

I actively engage in academic discussions on bias, ethics, and interventions for challenging behaviours, advocating for compassionate, client-centered care. Aspiring to become a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), I aim to leverage my experience, knowledge, and empathetic approach to positively impact individuals and families.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended career path as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is focused on specializing in social interactions and peer relationships for children with autism and related developmental disorders. My goal is to design and implement evidence-based interventions tailored to enhancing social communication skills, facilitating meaningful peer interactions, and promoting inclusive educational and community environments.

I plan to work closely with schools, families, and community organizations to develop comprehensive social skills programs, conduct assessments, and provide ongoing training for caregivers and educators. Emphasizing ethical and culturally sensitive practices, I aim to foster supportive environments that encourage genuine peer relationships and social integration.

As I progress in my career, I intend to contribute to research and professional development in the field, continuously refining approaches to better support the social and emotional growth of individuals with autism. Ultimately, my professional aspiration is to empower children and adolescents to achieve greater independence, confidence, and fulfillment through improved social skills and peer connections.

Graduate school interests

Pursuing graduate studies in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an integral part of my professional journey. I am particularly interested in specialized coursework and research opportunities focused on social skill development, peer-mediated interventions, and culturally responsive practices. Grad school will equip me with advanced knowledge and skills necessary to effectively address social challenges and foster positive peer interactions among individuals with autism.
