About
Greetings,
Trust this message finds you in good spirit. My name is Rajae Gayle, a rising first year graduate student looking to pursue a M.S degree in Nutritional Sciences at Howard University followed by a medical degree in the field of family medicine. Coming from Jamaica to the U.S.A in 2012 was a major transition, but it was one I took on without fear knowing the responsibilities that laid ahead having been granted a full track and field scholarship. With this in mind, I had to ensure that I established a balance between my academic and athletic pursuits.
I'm proud to say that this balance was struck from early. Evidence of this can firstly be seen in my athletic journey after becoming a 2 time MEAC javelin champion, javelin bronze medalist, shot-put bronze medalist and a 2 time NCAA D1 East Regionals qualifiers. Not to mention, receiving this year's male track and field MVP award as well as among others. It goes without saying that I had to compliment all these accomplishments with my academics achievements by firstly being recognized on the dean's list each year, receiving All-MEAC and All-Academic honors via track and field. In addition to being inducted into honor societies including but not limited to Beta Kappa Chi and the National Institute of Science honor societies. The list can go on, but amidst all those accolades one of the key component to my success is giving back. As such, I make sure to mentor others as best I can. So much so, I was nominated recently as the vice-president of the Comprehensive Medical Mentoring Program (CMMP). This of course will become a platform through which I can help shape the lives of my fellow young aspiring physicians and leaders as we strive toward making a difference in this world.
I strongly believe in the saying that goes, "show me your friends and I'll show you who are." This saying which is quite popular back home in Jamaica really says a lot. Why? Well because to me I've come to realize the significance of aligning myself with like-minded individuals who are not only successful academically, but those who are looking to create waves of positive changes in this world through a unified stance. Because of my passion for living and learning. Finally, I strongly believe that my intellect, charisma and leadership skills would definitely contribute to the continued success of this outstanding honor society.
Love and Gratitude!
