As the tumultuous seas have shaken and continue to reverberate amidst middle eastern countries my heart yearns all the more to be positioned as one that can offer rest in the middle of chaos. Hundreds of Syrian refugees are being displaced from their homes forced to find asylum in neighboring and distant countries. Beyond apprehending certification and a degree, what perpetuates within me is the need for these one’s to process and grieve the loss of what was in hopes of building what will be. I desire to be an administer of healing and hope.
Upon obtaining a MA in Clinical Mental Heath Counseling, my vision is to partner with a ministry targeting children and families torn from war displacement. Within this ministry many avenues are being explored to include counseling, music and art therapy, in addition to formal education. As tools are being obtained and solidified within my own life I am confident that I will witness the transformation of many little lives and ultimately the trajectory shift of a nation. This vision however is not partial to Syrian refugees but more specifically to children. Once a child myself, I recall not having language to convey and process the pressures and indecencies of life. This is what I hope to recover and empower for children, the significance of their voices.
