About

Sister Mauretta once wrote, “To be successful, the first thing to do is to fall in love with your work." I have had a love for athletic training for as long as I can remember. I am honored to be member of the learning community at Mizzou . I aspire to be admitted into the Athletic Training Program in the School of Health Professions to achieve my passion and life’s journey of becoming an athletic trainer.
In addition, I am the CEO/ Creator of Straight From The GO...All good things from Chicago. I was born and raised in Chicago, and decided that Chicago must be represented in a positive light. Using my passion for Chicago, I created the phrase, “Straight from the Go,” and had it placed on t-shirts to dispel and reject the belief that Chicago is by nature a violent city that has no interest in creating a safe community where citizens can live in peace and harmony. To date I’ve been interviewed and spoken to many media outlets as well as presented my vision in front of 15 thousand individuals at the Allstate Arena. Currently my shirts are being sold in over 12 stores including O’Hare airport and The Bridge Campus store at the University of Missouri. A portion of all proceeds are given to victims of gun violence as well as families of fallen first responders. I believe that one voice that becomes the voice of hundreds, thousands, millions can make a difference.

Goals and interests

Career goal

There is an age-old quote Benjamin Franklin that says, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” With this quote in the forefront of my life, I've set long-term goals. My goals include pursuing a bachelor's degree and then a master's degree in my field. The necessary steps to achieve this goal will require that I continue to engage and actively participate in all academic classes as well as extracurricular activities. As a graduate student, I will engage and strive to be collaborative, well rounded and focused. Securing a position with a team and becoming a world renowned athletic trainer is my ultimate goal.

Graduate school interests

After I complete my Bachelors degree I plan to get my masters in Athletic Training.

Outside the classroom

My interests in sports are life – long. Being the daughter of a basketball legend has afforded me the opportunity to speak with athletes and gain insight as they progress into the world of professional sports. My early interest in athletic training led me to volunteer with the Comets organization for over ten years. This organization aids aspiring basketball players to play the game of basketball at a high level as well as achieve their educational goals. While volunteering I observed acute injuries that required immediate medical attention; some injuries required long term care. I found the aforementioned experiences and process to be extremely rewarding.
