About

I am an ASCP certified Cytogenetic Technologist. I have six years of experience performing fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and 10+ years of laboratory experience performing molecular and cytogenetic tests that contain a complex network of steps and variables, where independent judgment and interpretation are required. I am very detailed-oriented and committed to exceptional patient care.

I recently left my job to go back to school to become a dietitian.
I am most interested in holistic nutrition and food as preventative medicine. I am also fascinated by the link between diet and autoimmune diseases. I am currently a student in WSU’s Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (BS NEP) program.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My long-term goal as a dietitian is to work with a small practice, ideally with a holistic, integrated approach to health and wellbeing incorporating aspects such as diet, exercise, chiropractic, and mental health into treatment plans. I would also love to partner with local food banks to provide cooking classes and the opportunity for increased nutrition for families with limited resources.

Graduate school interests

After completing the BS NEP program, I intend to pursue either the Master of Science Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (MS CPD) or a Master of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (MS NEP) at WSU.

Outside the classroom

Competitive equestrian vaulting (gymnastics on horseback), hiking, camping, and bike riding with my husband and two daughters, and gardening
