About

I’m a Mechanical Engineering student at California State University Maritime Academy with a strong interest in maritime engineering systems, propulsion, automation, and the broader applications of mechanical design in high-performance environments. My academic path has combined rigorous engineering coursework with hands-on technical training through sea terms, laboratory work, and applied engineering projects. Through this experience, I have developed both the analytical skills and operational mindset necessary for engineering work in complex, safety-critical systems.

One experience that strengthened my leadership and communication skills was participating in the MARAD Administrator’s Challenge essay competition. The challenge pushed me to think critically about the future of the maritime industry and the role engineer

Goals and interests

Career goal

My long-term career goal is to work in maritime engineering and eventually expand into broader mechanical systems engineering, potentially including aerospace or systems engineering applications. I’m especially interested in industries where reliability, efficiency, and multidisciplinary teamwork are critical. Maritime engineering has given me a strong foundation because it combines theory with real operational responsibility, requiring engineers to think critically and adapt quickly in demanding situations.
Looking ahead, I hope to begin my career working with maritime or large-scale mechanical systems, particularly in areas involving propulsion, energy systems, controls, or advanced manufacturing. As I gain experience, I’m interested in branching into systems engineering or aerospace-related work. Long term, I’d also like to move toward academia or mentorship in some form. I enjoy helping others learn and would eventually like to contribute to engineering education, research, or technical instruction while staying connected to industry experience.

Graduate school interests

I’m interested in pursuing graduate studies focused on fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and related thermal-fluid systems, particularly in applications involving propulsion, energy systems, and advanced mechanical design. My background in maritime and mechanical engineering has given me a strong interest in how complex systems operate under real-world conditions, and I’d like to continue developing deeper technical expertise in those areas. At the same time, I’m open to expanding my interests as I gain industry experience, especially in systems engineering, controls, aerospace applications, or other interdisciplinary fields that connect theory with practical engineering challenges.
