About

Art School seemed like an unattainable goal. I allowed self-doubt and fear to keep me treading water for thirty years. When I turned 45 I realized I hadn’t done anything to be the change I wanted to see. I started going to community college after work to develop a portfolio and slowly build confidence in something I love.

Growing up in Texas, I considered The University of Texas the gold standard for secondary education. I am thrilled to be in my senior year in the Studio Arts program in Austin. I have access to tools and mediums that were previously unattainable and I am developing skills I didn’t think possible.

I have found that chipping away at very large obstacles eventually makes them manageable. I realized that shining light on fearful objects often reveals the shadows of self-doubt.

Now I am pursuing my fears with a brighter light and a satchel of remnants from previous obstacles. I am trying to see how close I can get to becoming an artist I admire.
