About

My name is Robert Alec Hovey and I am a Music Education major at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. As a future music educator, I strive for the development and growth of all students through the power of music. A community that can come together and create something beautiful is truly a wonderful thing and has the ability to teach our students valuable life lessons that not every subject can offer. As an art, music can draw kids away from their fundamental thinking and help them understand more about themselves and others. It is a medium that helped me get through my difficult times and was a way in which I was able to truly express myself despite my shy tendencies. I hope that as a teacher, I can share this gift that I found to better enrich the lives of younger students so that we all may able to add a little spice in the world. Having taught many private lessons, camps, and even some full rehearsals, I have already seen the miracles in can do not only in myself, but also in my students and peers. Being in the food industry for almost 6 years, I have noticed an increase in my own motivation, allowing me to get better raises at a quicker pace then most of the other employees I work with. I have noticed a higher level of reliability in me from my employers and a more positive attitude form those that work with me. Through my experience, I have seen first hand what music has done for myself and hope that I can guide others so that music may also help them on their life journey.
