About

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Chamberlain University and I'm passionate about maternal and child health. I work in healthcare and volunteer at Houston Methodist Hospital, where I assist nursing staff and support patient care in a clinical environment. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and have allowed me to develop strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. My long-term goal is to become a Certified Nurse Midwife so I can support women and families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care while helping improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

Experience

  • psychatric technician

As a Psychiatric Technician at UT Health Houston, I support adolescents receiving inpatient mental health treatment by assisting with daily care, monitoring patient safety, and helping maintain a therapeutic environment. I work closely with nurses and the healthcare team to observe patient behavior, document changes in condition, and provide emotional support to patients during their treatment. This role has strengthened my communication skills, empathy, and ability to respond calmly in high-stress situations while advocating for patient well-being.

Volunteering

  • As a volunteer at Houston Methodist Hospital, I assist nursing staff and healthcare teams by greeting patients and visitors, stocking supplies, and helping maintain an organized environment on the units. I also support the emergency department with non-clinical tasks and guiding visitors. This experience allows me to interact with patients and gain valuable insight into the hospital setting while strengthening my passion for nursing.
