Hi, I'm a current student at the University of Iowa majoring Geographical Information Science and minor in Environmental Planning. I chose this career path because of my background and country of origin. I am a citizen of Liberia( located within West Africa), a third world country which is poorly developed. Becoming an environment manager or city planner would be a great accomplishment for me, my family and my country as well. During my stayed in Liberia before moving to the U.S, I can literally say that my country don't have a good city/community planner to really level out the the streets and communities. Due to this reason, the city is not planned out right and most of their environments are pretty much polluted with bad air. For a small country like Liberia, it wouldn't need much to carryout development. I feel like they haven't gotten the right expertise to do the job. Being a planner or environmental manager would be a great access for my country when it comes to development and the country ecosystem .
