About
Second only to honesty, I choose altruism as my value. I am a special education teacher, I was in Teach For America which makes me and Americorps alumnus. And, I was also in Big Brothers & Big Sisters, but my biggest accomplishment was when I was a court appointed special advocate for abusive, neglected children. My volunteer work, helped to get three young girls out of the custody of their step grandfather who was raping and molesting them.
I actually think of altruism as selfish selflessness, because it makes me feel so good to help others. My first day substitute teaching, I had to change diapers… Yet, by the end of the year, I will have earned my doctorate in education.
I come from a family of limited means, so any support towards my education is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

As site administrator for the Nelson Place School summer programs, I had a wonderful time with all of the students with special needs. If I don’t get a principalship this fall, I will be continuing my career as a special educator. It’s so fulfilling for me, that I am totally fine with it either way.
