About

Working for an entertainment company, during college, peaked my interest in communications. As my career changed, I began to work more and more with creative arts teams in developing materials, copywriting, websites and other forms of communication. After leaving the company, I worked for a local politician and successfully won three local races for state legislature, and two Sheriff office races.

My community work on political campaigns made me realize I wanted to use my talents and skills to help the community which led me to apply for employment opportunities at cities and schools. I received a job offer from the City of Bothell and have spent the last several years running projects, managing contracts, launching a new 32 million dollar contract and overseeing its implementation. My biggest success is saving money. At Directv,Inc. I saved the organization two million dollars a year in postage through a bill redesign program and at the City of Bothell, I reduced the program budget by 60%.

Overall, my favorite thing is communicating. Being out in the community, learning and gathering information. The biggest thing is learning and creating programs to meet community needs.

In my spare time, I volunteer as a youth leader. I teach junior high and high school students to cook a meal. We teach cooking basics, meal planning and ultimately four to six teenagers prepare and serve a meal to thirty to forty of their peers. Our final step is sitting down as a community and enjoying it.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I want to continue to pursue jobs benefiting communities. My ultimate dream is to teach. Teach students at a community college or high school level who think they don't have opportunities or opportunities are limited. I want them to pursue their dreams like I did. I want to help them do this and teach them they have a voice and how they can communicate it in writing or visually to the world.
