Goals and interests

Career goal

From a young age, I have always been passionate about teaching. I used to pretend to be a teacher with my younger siblings so that they would do a summer school of my designed curriculum and standards. This passion has driven me to pursue a degree in elementary education with a special education minor. After I graduate college, I would love to teach in a small school. I decided that I wanted to teach in a small school so that I could reach out to as many students as I can in a K-12 building. Becoming a part of a small school allows me to play a part in diverse roles throughout the whole school. I firmly believe in setting a meaningful and lasting impact on students so that each student feels valued.
Beyond the classroom, I would love to be a senior class sponsor or assist in planning events like prom. Coaching is another part of my life that I am passionate about and have been gaining more experience in the past couple of years while being a college student and athlete. Eventually, I would love to become a high school coach but I am open to starting at the junior high level. Participating in other curricular activities allows me to mentor and guide students beyond my classroom. Showing interest in my students outside of the classroom can create a deeper connection, motivation and trust between my students and I. Contributing to their extracurriculars allows me to understand the student’s interest better and how I can relate that to the classroom.
After I have taught for eight to ten years, I would love to become a principal. Becoming a principal would allow me to be able to reach more students than just the ones in my classroom. I would be able to reach out to specific students that would need my help more than others. As a principal, I can foster an environment that is more inclusive and positive throughout the school. This position would allow me to follow up on all the unique needs of individual students and create effective strategies that ensure every student is getting the support they need. I believe that strong leadership is essential for all staff and students to work together in a positive and encouraging way.
Ultimately, my career goal is to establish a classroom that is inclusive and positive so that every student feels welcome and supported, whether I’m in the classroom, leading as a principal or coaching. Every student should have a chance to be seen, supported, and the ability to achieve their goals. We as educators have such a meaningful impact on each and every one of our students' lives. The next couple of years will be focused on my learning and dedication towards being the best educator that I can be. I am excited to build a positive and inclusive classroom in my future where students can chase their dreams.

Graduate school interests

After completing my first year of teaching, I plan to begin working toward my master's degree in educational leadership to prepare for a future role as a principal. Gaining classroom experience will help me understand the needs of students and teachers, and furthering my education will equip me with the skills to create a positive, inclusive school environment. My goal is to make a lasting impact on students beyond the classroom by fostering a supportive and effective learning community.

Outside the classroom

In my free time, I enjoy riding horses, reading and coaching or mentoring young students.
