Sanela Dolamic

I currently hold a Controller position at MTech Mechanical Technologies Group, Inc., a company I have been with for eight years. I am very proud of my professional achievements and I am working hard to advance my career with a master’s degree in Database Design and Administration from University of Denver as well with a new professional experiences within Accounting Information Systems field.

Most of my academic and professional background is based in accounting field and I would like to take it to the next level by focusing on accounting information systems, database design, business intelligence tools implementation, data mining and analysis, reports analysis and design. I am very much interested in accounting information systems design and implementation field since my undergraduate years. My previous professional experiences are very much aligned with those interests so taking this career path makes perfect sense for me. During my undergraduate studies I took and successfully completed classes like C++ programming, Business Info Systems, Systems Analysis / Concept Design, Accounting Information Systems. I completed Data Structures class at University of Colorado at Boulder in the fall of 2014, just before I started master’s certificate program at University of Denver. During my career I performed various projects that required data analysis and reporting skills. One of my first projects at my first job out of college was to integrate electronic documentation / imaging software with the accounting software in place at the time. The project scope included software implementation, setting up accounting department processes to integrate new software, training project managers, assistant project managers and accounting department employees on the new software and procedures. I accomplished this project successfully with a great impact on company’s procedures and efficiency. Another, more recent project that I should mention is the ERP software implementation at the same company. I was a lead team member on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software committee which successfully completed the new software implementation project. My focus within the team was on Core Accounting / Payroll set up and Financial Manager, a report designer application. Project scope included software selection, close work with consultants to identify best practices, core accounting and payroll processes set up and testing, data imports, identification and specifications of required reporting needs, preparation for go-live day and training accounting department employees, creation of a new accounting manual, effective communication with IT department team to ensure project is on schedule, etc.

I thrive on challenge and I take pride in the effort I put in to provide solutions to the problems I am presented with. At this point in my career I feel that I definitely found my niche. I am very passionate about investing my time in education that will enable me to grow more in the database design and administration field within my accounting profession.
