About

I am a 33 year old mom of two and veteran who served 8 years in the US Army. I am majoring in Pre-Nursing with a Psychology minor. I love caring for people and my time as a combat medic in the Army showed me how much nurses can make a difference in care. It was hard going back to school after being out of school for so long but I finally worked up the courage to enroll because of the pandemic. I want to be able to help people in these uncertain times. Our hospital staff are so tired and burnt out that they could use some fresh faces in the career field.

Goals and interests

Career goal: I want to be the best nurse I can be. I want to make a difference in the lives of the people who need a friendly face the most. My ultimate goal would to eventually become a nurse practitioner but my short term career goal would be to either work as a nurse in either the operating room or some type of behavior health clinic for children.
Outside the classroom: My hobbies are pretty extensive. I love doing puzzles, hand making pasta, cooking and baking pastries. I am always looking for interesting and new food to make.

Experience

I worked for a year in an assisted living community for residents with some type of dementia. I cared for some amazing people with amazing backgrounds. It a job of happiness, fulfillment, and satisfaction knowing that I was giving the best care I could while improving the quality of life for my residents. But it was also a job of immense sadness as I had to say goodbye to so many wonderful people.
