About

Hello, my name is Selena Nova Bravo. I'm nineteen years old and I live in Beardstown Illinois. I am the youngest of five sisters and three brothers. I've attended public school for most of my schooling until my sophomore year, that's when I switched to Penn Foster online. During my public school years I took part in cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, dance, science club, and chorus. I left public high school because I do not come from a wealthy family, so it was necessary for me to make money to ensure that I can build a future for myself. My father is an immigrant from Mexico and my mother comes from a poor family. Although my parents have unfortunate situations, it gives me the drive I need to succeed. I started working in a saw mill when I was only fourteen. This is a very laborious and dangerous job. I spent most of my weekends working beside my father and brother in the saw mill up until I was seventeen. Working so hard as a child made me very determined to succeed in academics and financially. Once I enrolled online, I worked during the day and studied at night. I have always found interest in studies that involve human rights and law enforcement. Growing up I witnessed my father go through so many legal obstacles to obtain his green card, to this day I'm very thankful and intrigued by the lawyer who helped us. My father is the hardest worker I've ever met and he will always be my biggest inspiration. He teaches me that I can achieve anything I put my mind to in this world as long as I give it my all. Although I spent most of my time in the mill, I also spent time during the week working at a nursing home. I learned a lot of valuable skills there such as, food safety, medical care, and how to care for people with deimensia and alzheimers. In my free time I enjoy going on walks with my two dogs, or volunteering at the animal shelter. I am very passionate about forensic science and the criminal justice system as a whole. I love to watch true crime documentaries and read about the science behind forensics. I am a very crafty person as well. In the past year I have remodeled two homes with my fiance, along with some side furniture restoration projects. I learned a lot of my carpentry skills from my place of work, the saw mill. I am very precise and particular in nearly everything that I do. I have developed a very steady hand as I have been doing makeup as a side hustle for the past 2 years. Makeup is a passion of mine that I have always found comfort in along with cooking. I thrive to make a difference in the world and protect good people.
