About

Hello! My name is Serenity Morales, and honored I am to be a part of such a renowned organization! I have just recently returned to school after participating in an immersion experience that I will always hold near and dear to my heart. From the beginning of August 2015 to the very beginning of August in 2016, I worked with the TaLK Program as an After School English teacher - bringing resources not readily available to rural schools in South Korea. I took a year off of my studies at UTSA to teach students English while simultaneously learning both the language and culture of Korea. It is an experience that I will never forget - and surely one that I will draw future inspiration from. But now I am back and ready to tackle my studies as a COM Major at UTSA. Though my plan for the future may still be quite vague, I have come to the conclusion that I do still wish to continue studying Communication. Continuing my education will, then, further catapult me into campus life and activity - helping me gain both experience and recognition suitable for resume documentation. If I am allowed to walk down the path I hope to soon pave, I will work hard to distinguish myself from my peers and find the best opportunities that I can upon graduating with a future graduate degree. As a senior undergrad, I look to the future in hopes of creating something of myself for my family, my peers, and the world in which I live in.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I look to one day work alongside a number of great mentors and peers – learning not only from each other, but those whom which we interact with on a daily basis. I wish, though long ways away, to establish a non-profit organization whose goal it is to raise both greater awareness and empathetic understanding of mental disorders and/or illnesses. My proposed organization would, in essence, fight against the social stigmatization of affected individuals. I just want to cultivate greater consciousness of mental health – and not just on a national level, either. We will aim to advocate for mental health on a global scale and work to bridge the gap between suffering individuals and the general public. I, too, will venture out for career opportunities that best suit my interests and future goals – combining my love for dance and communication with the desire to help better our society at home and around the globe.

Graduate school interests

As of right now, I plan on applying for the Master's Program in Communication at UTSA - my current university. I will also look to complete grad certificates in both health and non-profit (if applicable).

Outside the classroom

Dance is my my main hobby... Both the mind and body work inseparably when in dance - it is but a humble echo of each individual and the history both in and around them. To dance is to reflect your emotions, your experiences, your knowledge, your language, your culture - your identity. The body is a vessel through which we can speak - not with words, but through the very movements we create
