Shaleena Bonjour

My name is Shaleena M.M. Bonjour and I am currently a B.S.N student at West Coast University-Ontario campus. I attended Upper Columbia Academy for grades 10-12 and graduated with my diploma in 2012 having participated in the concert band, flute ensemble, H.O.P.E(helping other people everywhere) taskforce, varsity volleyball, student council (2009-2010), as well as working three on-campus jobs. These jobs included the Accounts Payable Assistant position, head girls dorm tutor, and substitute resident assistant. Following graduation I attended several colleges to fulfill requirements for Nursing School. One of these schools was Barstow Community College which is the school through which I gained an invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa. Outside of my studies, I have worked at Serrano Middle School within the San Bernardino City Unified School District. While working at Serrano M.S. I was placed in one of the two eighth grade classrooms where I was asked to do the direct instruction four of the five school days a week. I not only did direct instruction, but I also became the means of discipline in the classroom as it is quite a task for a new substitute teacher every day to step into an eighth grade classroom and maintain control. Along with teaching, I also was a chaperone on several field trips with my students. With what I have stated previously, I feel that I would be a great addition for your honor society as I will continue to perform to the best of my ability which in turn shines a light on this society.
