Shanice Crawford's career path in penetration testing begins with an Entry-Level Security Analyst role, leveraging her Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Philosophy alongside her graduate studies in Information Systems. Drawing on her internship experience at the U.S. Department of State, she will conduct vulnerability assessments and support penetration testing projects. With time and advanced certifications, she will progress to a Junior Penetration Tester role, where she will work closely with senior testers to identify and exploit vulnerabilities. Building on her internship at the New York State Assembly, she will further hone her skills and eventually take on the responsibilities of a Penetration Tester, performing penetration tests independently and producing detailed vulnerability reports. As she continues to gain expertise and certifications, Shanice aims to assume leadership roles as a Senior Penetration Tester or Team Lead, using her community advocacy experience and project management skills to excel in client interactions and team management. Ultimately, she aspires to become a trusted Penetration Testing Consultant, contributing to strategic security initiatives, and potentially ascending to the role of Chief Information Security Officer, where she can shape an organization's cybersecurity strategy and governance.
