Shantal Taylor

I am an incoming PSA freshman at Prairie View A&M University, Texas. I plan to study Biochemistry while on the predetermined path to medicine, with the aim of owning my own practice as a general practitioner and surgeon. I was born Brenham, Texas, but have lived all my life in Clarendon, Jamaica, experiencing all types of people and joys growing up. From as early as I can remember I have wanted to be in medicine; if you asked my mother she would tell you that after reading about a virus outbreak and the deaths it caused, I would not stop crying about becoming a nurse and helping everyone who got sick. Though I have gotten older and my plan for the future has stabilized I still want to help as many people as I can. Being raised in Jamaica around so many strong personalities and people, witnessing reports and accounts of preventable deaths and injuries my want for the future has never never faltered and I know I will succeed.
