About

I am a dietitian specializing in women's and children's health. I worked as a clinical dietitian after I graduated but didn't feel like I was making much of a difference in terms of empowering my patients. So I quit and launched my private practice - my job now revolves around helping my patients get to the root cause of their health issues instead of simply treating the symptoms. Although I am not a conventional RD, I am happy to say that the evidence-based naturopathic protocols I use have helped many of my patients get off medications. I am also a freelance writer and ghost-writer and I volunteer in national health awareness programs throughout the island and within my community.

Honors and awards

Goals and interests

Career goal

I would like to become a lecturer after I graduate so that I can reach health policy makers more easily. The reason is that Mauritius is now following the footsteps of industrialized countries when it comes to chronic diseases, gut disorders and autoimmune conditions. However, I realize that simply educating Mauritians is not enough - there is a crucial need to address environmental, social and political factors as well for long-term behavior change. Moreover, becoming a lecturer will also help train students in health promotion (instead of only focusing on health education).

Outside the classroom

When I am not reading about nutrition and gut health, I enjoy swimming in the ocean, doing some HIIT and creating new recipes using real foods.
