About

My name is Shaterra Edwards, and I am honored to be a part of this Honor Society. I am currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Development. After graduation, I plan to continue my education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Psychology.

Before returning to school, I proudly served 8 years in the United States military, where I gained valuable experience in leadership, human resources, logistics, teamwork, and working with people from many different backgrounds. My military experience taught me the importance of discipline, resilience, and continuing to push forward even when life becomes challenging.

As a wife, mother, veteran, full-time student, and working professional, balancing my responsibilities has not always been easy, but completing my education is extremely important to me. My experiences have strengthened my interest in psychology and my desire to eventually work in a field where I can support children, adolescents, and families.

Being a member of this Honor Society means a great deal to me because it represents not only academic achievement but also the hard work and perseverance it has taken to reach this point. I look forward to connecting with other members, learning from your experiences, and supporting one another as we continue working toward our academic and professional goals.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended career path is to become a school counselor, working primarily with children and adolescents. I hope to use my background in psychology to support students academically, socially, and emotionally while helping them navigate challenges that may affect their success in school. My long-term goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where students feel heard, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Graduate school interests

My graduate school interest is in School Counseling. I plan to pursue a master’s degree in School Counseling to further develop my knowledge of child and adolescent development, mental health, and student support. My goal is to become a school counselor who helps students overcome academic, social, and emotional challenges while providing them with the guidance and resources they need to succeed.

Outside the classroom

I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, cooking, listening to music, and creating new memories with the people I love. I also enjoy learning about psychology and personal development, especially topics related to children and adolescents. In my free time, I appreciate relaxing, exploring new places, and enjoying new experiences.
