Goals and interests
- Career goal
Shelby looks forward to an engaging career in public and private service both in the United States and internationally, as she loves to travel. Shelby continues to work hard to build similarly strong partnerships across borders, races, and backgrounds both in her personal and professional life. She intends to apply these skills as a representative, advocate, and leader within a public or non-profit institution. One of her dream jobs would be to work at the UN Department of international development as a researcher and advocate for education and women's rights. Shelby also hopes to start her own non-profit one day that supports microfinancing for women with small businesses in developing nations.
- Graduate school interests
While attending graduate school at the University of Southern California, Shelby has focused on courses in non-profit management and international development. With a balance of studies in qualitative and quantitative analysis, Shelby has developed a broad spectrum of practical and relevant skills.
- Outside the classroom
Shelby enjoys spending as much time outdoors as she can. From hiking, rock climbing, and camping to cliff jumping and learning to surf, she'll try it all. Shelby has been involved in athletics throughout her academic career; she especially loves lacrosse and helped start the first women's team at her college.
Shelby also enjoys watercolor painting, baking, photography, and most of all, reading, so be sure to send any good book recommendations her way!
