About

I began my health care journey with a friend who was paralyzed, and helped with his home care. I found myself confident providing with all of the aspects of his care, including his passing. Completing a Versant Residency gave me profound opportunities to see all aspects of in-patient care, and by the time I graduated, I was fully ready to care for 5 patients with complications. I was named the "safest resident" for the hospital I worked at and the only one to receive an overall 2 score on my first year evaluation post-residency (1-highest, 5-lowest). I am passionate about overall complete and culturally competent care, and working efficiently. I am in the last quarter of my Bachelors Degree program and looking forward with much enthusiasm to graduate school.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I have been accepted into the University of Washington's Pediatric Nurse Practitioners program starting the fall of 2017. I have always dreamed of working with children who have terminal cancer, and have a passion for family care. I have volunteered at youth camps for over 15 years as a nurse, and completed a Versant Nurse Residency in 2012. I hope to gain experience for my practice by working in remote or under-served areas to provide health care for those who may not have access or be able to travel to providers.

Graduate school interests

I will be attending the University of Washington in the fall of 2017. I am currently completing my Bachelors Degree in Nursing at the UW in Bothell.

Outside the classroom

I am an active person and love to spend as much time outdoors camping and hiking as possible. I am an avid fish woman when I have the chance to go. Quilting and crafts help me relax and create beautiful gifts for others, which keeps my heart happy. Natural foods and learning to incorporate them into my diet, and my teens diet, has been a wonderful learning process over the last few years.
