Outside the classroom

• Events: For the last 10 years, I have worked part-time to pay the bills and have spent the majority of the rest of my time building an event company with my partner, Rusty. Since that is our business, it seems odd to place that here. However, I would argue that we do this as a part of our life. Community focused events is our passion.
• She-She: The love of my life turns out to be my grandson, Milo. Even though he lived 3 hours away the first six years of his life, we hung out at least once a month. We went to skateparks & playgrounds. We never passed up a good slide opportunity. (I’m hoping he’ll be my roller-coaster buddy when he’s older!) We eat cake-pops & drink chocolate milk. And I am Milo’s She-She.
• Disc Golf: So much has happened in the last two years, it seems to overshadow anything prior. There were some very tragic and concerning things that transpired over that time, but there were some extremely cool things to come out of it, at least for me. One of those things was the discovery of disc golf. It’ll be two years in July that I started throwing discs and I try hard not to miss a day out on the course.

Volunteering

  • One of the more satisfying things I have done over the last 10 years is focus on community events in Clark County. With these community events, our company, Choice Events, has donated to reputable charities each time. The list below is not all-inclusive but are representative of what I do/who I am. Helping others is at the forefront of my mind. • Volunteered for: o Habitat for Humanity o City of Vancouver (graffiti clean-up, street clean-up) o Various progressive/democratic candidates • Donated/Supported through Choice Events: o The ARC o Second Chance Companions o Share House o Evergreen School District Foundation o Clark County Food Bank
