Shushan Wu

I am currently a junior-year student in Auburn University, majoring in civil engineering. I intend to study environmental engineering, specifically. I am in a "2+2" program of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) and Auburn University, so my first two years of college was in BUCEA. On one hand, I had great academic performance. My overall GPA is 3.99 and during my first semester in Auburn, my GPA was 4.0. I also got high scores in both TOEFL and GRE. On the other hand, I have participated in all kinds of activities and organizations. I was the vice chair of Advertising Department of Science and Technology Association in BUCEA and I joined in American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) in Auburn University. Since I am interested in environmental engineering and I hope to give back to the society by using what I learnt, I took part in the OutCELL project in Auburn University which allows me to teach young children the importance of environmental engineering. I also led a project called "Water Detective" in China with a goal of getting the public involved in detecting water quality. I have done a lot of research on environmental engineering, especially water treatment. I believe these experience will help me in my future study and career. Besides, I have a wide range of hobbies, including taekwondo, music and Chinese calligraphy.
