About

Being able to work with large animals is a passion that I have longed for. I never grew up in a farm household but always gravitated towards them. My childhood friend had this type of household; we would milk the cows, ride the horses, and feed the chickens. I began taking horse lessons and volunteering at stables until high school. In high school I was involved in various clubs; FFA, German club, and the National Honor Society. My animal experience varies as I volunteered at local animal rescue organizations, was a kennel technician for a year, and shadowed at clinics. I knew in my junior year what I was working towards and planned to major in Animal Science Pre-Vet at Washington State University (WSU). I was concerned about how I was going to pay for my education as I am a first-generation college student. With the help of various scholarships, it has eased that stress. Since coming to Pullman, I have had the pleasure of gaining hands-on experience with large animals. What I am most interested in is Equine medicine including surgery and nutrition. Other animals that interest me are beef and dairy cattle. I am also currently doing undergraduate reproductive dairy cattle research at WSU through their Top Scholar Ignite program. I have completed my first semester at WSU and have flourished with a 4.0 GPA and am excited for what next semester brings. I’ve been committed to doing everything I can to helping animals through my career, volunteering, and work experiences. Tuition costs have risen, and I am still in need of financial help through the gracious help of scholarships.
