About
After I obtained my nursing license as a RN, I decided to pursue higher education in the psychiatric field. I have chosen this program, because I made many researches that confirm the psychiatric population, very often, can be misunderstood, undertreated, and underserved. In addition, the healthcare system is affected by a lack of health care providers and that constitute a significant issue for this growing population of psychiatric patients.
My dream has been always to become a nurse practitioner. When I worked in a psychiatric facility as a CNA, I realized that I like the psychiatric field. Therefore, my goal is to be a part of the solution to alleviate the burden of this specific group of population. My mother was a victim of mental illness. All her life, she suffered of schizophrenia. I also suffered of this situation because she was a single mother. Now, I am a RN. But, I want to pursue higher education to help a lot of parents who have been affected by psychiatric disorders.
I have been enrolled at the University of St Francis to reach my goal. I will do my best to keep my commitment to finish the program and to provide a comprehensive and holistic care to the underserved psychiatric population.
