About

I am currently working towards a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Denver Seminary. I served in the US Air Force for 4.5 years and after my honorable discharge, I used the Post 9/11 GI Bill to go back to school in 2013. I recieved an associates degree in Social Science from Thomas Nelson Community College in VA and a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Quinnipiac University in CT (where I earned my invitation to join the Honor Society). My goal is to be able to use the degrees I have achieved, and the licensure I will earn, to write policy that is transformative in how the legal system responds to adolescents who are victims of trafficking and/or subject to the juvenile detention process and provide holistic and therapeutic counseling to them as well.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I plan to be a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor for victims of trafficking, sex trafficking in particular, and for juvenile delinquent males. Both of these groups are marginalized in our society and yet the trauma they have suffered to get to the path they find themselves is, frankly, unbelievable to most Americans. I feel called to spend my life helping those who have suffered to find their voice and the power within themselves to redirect their own paths in life.

Graduate school interests

I am currently in the spring semester of my first year at grad school I am in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Denver Seminary.

Outside the classroom

Being outside and taking in the beauty of our world is my biggest hobby. That can look like road trips, hiking, swimming, kayaking, or laying in fields watching the sky go by. I enjoy learning about alternative ways of living out ones life through freedom, compassion, and love. I enjoy hanging out with friends in groups and being able to have one on one time. I like to get away and spend time in silence and solitude. All of these things can be brought under the umbrella that my favorite hobby is to travel!
