I'm an International student from Italy, studying in the US after having obtained an academic scholarship due to the achievements in the science-based High School I attended. I originally decided to spend an year abroad because I believe in the benefits of travelling and becoming bilingual: from advantage being able to communicate and connect with more people in different contexts, to one of becoming a much more open minded person. The time spent in the US during my freshman year made me realize how the american academic system used to approach scientific subjects was extremely suitable to my study method and was already beginning to shape me as the scientist that I aim to become one day. That is why I managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout both semester of my first year. My fields of study are Biology and Psychology, which I believe are a great combination to understand people and their behaviors from two different perspectives. One more human, the other more scientific. My dream is to study how the biological brain works to cause people to behave in certain ways and try to help them, always taking in consideration that in this branch of science we can't forget that we are dealing with people, thus it's necessary to be more sensitive and careful about how the research and the discoveries will affect their complex lives and the unique way they approach the world.
