Sonia Saavedra

Hello and good morning/ afternoon. My name is Sonia Saavedra. I am a 22-year-old, married, working, mother of two beautiful children. They are my inspiration. I have chosen to dedicate my life to serving the community in honor of my children. I would like to provide the best life possible for my family while also helping to make the world a better, safer, place. I am choosing to work in the Emergency and Disaster Management field. After receiving my bachelor's in EDM, I would like to become a Hotshot firefighter for a few years. As a Hotshot, I would do my part to help with the increasingly intense wildfires that are primarily affecting the Western United States. After a few years of serving as a Hotshot, I would like to become an Emergency and Disaster Management Director. As a director, I will do my best to help improve emergency services and manage incidents that are both planned and unexpected. I will work towards working at a state level. I hope to make a positive difference in the EDM field.
