About

My name is Stephanie Dortch. I am a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) and a graduate student in the Masters of Occupational Therapy Bridge Program at the University of Louisianna at Monroe. I am currently a COTA working in a skilled nursing facility, where I am responsible for implementing therapy and rehab plans that improve the lives and well being of my patients. My traditional patients are elderly individuals recuperating from traumatic injury. I take great pride in doing work that enables these individuals to regain normal or close to normal physical ability.

Goals and interests

Career goal

After graduation, I will seek employment as an Occupational Therapist in the Central Mississippi area. As a student, I will continue to succeed in all aspects of my curriculum, including academic studies and clinical fieldwork; in order to better serve my clients.

Graduate school interests

I am currently a graduate student in the Masters of Occupational Therapy Bridge Program to further my career as an Occupational Therapy Practitioner. I have always had a passion for helping people, and occupational therapy is my venue.

Outside the classroom

I am a god-mother to a total of seven children. Being a god-mother is not a job I take lightly; so, I am there for recitals, ball games, honor’s programs, christenings, plays, and any other activities the children are involved in. I am a very present influence in their lives. I have a strong commitment to my community as well. At church, I work diligently with various ministries. I teach the youth Sunday School class as well as volunteer with family life committees. I also serve on the finance committee. In addition to those roles, I also managed my husband's campaign when he ran for public office; and now that he is a State Representative, I also help manage our non-profit organization (Heathy Jackson).
