Stephanie Thomas

This previous summer I participated in 100+ clinical hours at Southern Maryland Ophthalmology in Maryland to get some experience in the medical field. I participated in working pulling charts, initial vision screenings, running an OCT machine to take pictures of the back of the eye, as well as learning how to operate a manual and automatic lensometer. By shadowing technicians at this medical office, I gained a love for practicing in the medical field and a desire to study and learn new things. I am interested in pursuing a career in Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, or in the military as a Registered Nurse after earning my degree.

I am interested in applying to graduate programs like the Officer Candidacy School in the Navy or Army and continuing my degree to seek furthering my education after I graduate.

I enjoy sports such as golf, tennis, running (cross country), volleyball, basketball, and artistic and writing pursuits in my free time. I enjoy keeping a journal that is sort of a book and I enjoy gardening, pressing flowers, and stain glass pieces. I am very hard working and try to work most of the time. Though many might not consider work ethics as a hobby I have learned most of my life skills from maintaining a job and taking care of myself.
