About
My name is Stevie Rae Hoskins, and I currently a Special Education teacher for the Weatherford Independent School District at Weatherford Ninth Grade Center, working as a self-contained Life Skills teacher. I teach all ninth/tenth grade and all academic subjects. I thoroughly love working with children and always have. I attended the University of West Georgia to originally pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts, but after my cousin was born with Down ’s Syndrome, I soon realized I had a different calling. The first year of my undergraduate degree I changed my major to a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. I wanted to make a difference in children’s lives after seeing how much of a blessing my cousin has been to our family. Over the years I have gained incredible knowledge, experience, advice and training through various student teaching programs and job opportunities. I did my internship at Hiram High School and was lucky to obtain a teaching position immediately following the internship.
My first year of teaching was inspirational, challenging and gratifying. My students pushed me to be the best teacher and person I can be, just as I push and motivate them to be the best student and person they can be. I feel extremely blessed to have supportive staff, which continually help guide me in the right direction and always motivate me. My students are my biggest encouragers and are the reason why I want to pursue a Master’s Degree in Administration. I am often the voice and advocate when my students and parents need one, with a Master’s in Educational Admiration I can make my voice heard more. My hopes through the Master’s Program at Lamar University are to gain better knowledge and experience on how to better serve my student’s in an educational environment and to be an influential and strong leader for my staff. They say, “If you love your job, you never really work a day in your life.” I love working with “my kids” and seeing them progress. I aim to teach, challenge, inspire and enrich every student and co-worker I encounter. The Master’s Program will give me the opportunity to continue to enrich student’s lives and help them move on to a bigger and brighter future as well be a successful leader!
