About

Summer Abdoh studies Digital Communication and Media Arts at DePaul University (M.A.). She also works as a communications manager at Be Strong Families, where she maintains the organization’s web presence and designs its marketing materials.

In addition to her day jobs, Summer gives back to the community and travels. She has served with City Year Chicago, rebuilt homes with Habitat For Humanity, and has explored the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. One of Summer's most memorable experiences was seeing Petra, a city carved into the mountains of Jordan's southwestern desert.

Summer also loves writing and reading! Summer launched her writing career directly after high school when the Chicago Tribune published her article, “My Secret Past.” Since then, Summer has written for outlets such as Animal Planet, the Center For Media and Democracy, and several nonprofit organizations. One of her goals is to be above the fold for a major news organization.

Summer is an alumna of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she double majored in journalism and political science. She also spent eight months studying journalism and political science at the American University in Cairo.

While attending UW-Madison, Summer joined Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc, a multicultural sorority dedicated to community service. She was also a recipient of the Posse Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship awarded to students who demonstrate leadership in their schools and communities.
