Graduate school interests

My academic and professional journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to understanding the evolving dynamics of global security, international relations, and the role of technology in shaping policy. With nearly two decades of teaching experience and a strong foundation in history and international studies, I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in National Security Studies at New Jersey City University (NJCU), where I have focused on cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and public policy. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to the field of international security—through research, policy analysis, and education—by bridging the gap between traditional diplomacy and emerging digital threats.

My graduate studies have allowed me to explore the intersection of cybersecurity and international relations. As a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Professional Security Studies, I coordinated NJCU’s Cybersecurity Club, where I led weekly presentations on topics such as cyber diplomacy, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity ethics. This experience not only enhanced my public speaking and research skills but also deepened my understanding of how digital technologies are reshaping global power structures and national defense strategies.

My academic interests lie in the areas of cyber policy, global security governance, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies. I am particularly drawn to the study of how state and non-state actors navigate the digital domain, and how international institutions can adapt to address cyber threats, disinformation, and digital authoritarianism. I believe that interdisciplinary approaches—combining history, political science, and technology—are essential to crafting effective and equitable security policies.

Beyond the classroom, I have consistently sought opportunities to engage with students and scholars across disciplines. My teaching background in Nigeria, where I taught government, civic education, and cultural studies, has instilled in me a passion for education as a tool for empowerment and global awareness. I aim to continue this work by contributing to academic research, policy think tanks, or international organizations focused on security and development.

Ultimately, I envision a career that integrates research, policy advising, and teaching. Whether as a foreign policy analyst, cybersecurity strategist, or international relations professor, I am committed to advancing knowledge and fostering dialogue on the most pressing security challenges of our time. I am confident that my academic preparation, professional experience, and global perspective will allow me to make a meaningful contribution to any institution or initiative dedicated to international peace and security.
