About

Over twenty-five years of working in education in various capacities, I realize that my greater purpose in life is to get involved in reversing student achievement disparities. My ultimate goal is to become an Educational Policy Maker who would be influential in changing how society views education. Aristotle wrote: "The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet." The quote resonates with my experiences while being on my educational journey. Central Michigan University is where I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I attended Oakland University with a Master of Arts in Counseling, and I am currently obtaining my Education Specialist in Leadership and my anticipated graduation in April of 2021. I plan to enter the Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership in the fall of 2021.

My experience with students has inspired my goal of becoming an Education Policy Maker. I would like to measure the success or failure of the existing policies and evaluate education policies and how they affect the educational system. I want to collect and analyze the data and come up with policies that would improve schools. Higher education, to me, is essential. It is the tool that allows underprivileged students like me the prospects of a better life; it prepares career-minded individuals with the potential to gain leadership abilities. I want to be someone that helps shape new leaders into being influential leaders. Through my educational journey, I have developed a greater appreciation for the word perseverance.
