Goals and interests

Career goal

My ultimate goal is to own my very own hospitality business—something that’s not just locally known, but has a presence everywhere. I want to build a brand that’s recognized for its excellence, customer service, and commitment to making an impact on the communities I serve.

1. Building a Business from the Ground Up
In grad school, I’ll gain the skills needed to start and grow my own business. From operations management to finance, I’ll learn how to run a hospitality company efficiently and profitably. This knowledge will be crucial when it comes to launching my business and ensuring its success in a competitive market.
2. Expanding Globally
With a strong foundation in hospitality management, I aim to scale my business and have locations everywhere. Grad school will help me develop strategies to expand internationally, while understanding the unique challenges of different markets and cultures. Whether it’s managing multiple locations or entering new countries, I’ll have the tools to grow my business globally.
3. Giving Back to the Poor
I know firsthand what it’s like to be in a challenging financial situation, and that experience fuels my desire to give back to those in need. As I build my business, I want to incorporate a social responsibility component. This might mean providing jobs to underserved communities, creating affordable accommodations for low-income families, or even starting a nonprofit arm of my business to help those in need.
In grad school, I’ll learn how to integrate social impact with business goals. I’ll discover how to balance profitability with philanthropy, ensuring that my success benefits not just my business but also the people who need it most.
4. Building a Brand with Purpose
I want my hospitality brand to be recognized not just for its high-quality services but also for its commitment to social good. Through my studies, I’ll learn how to build a brand with purpose—one that stands for more than just profits. By focusing on community engagement and giving back, I’ll create a business that makes a positive impact and inspires others to do the same.
5. Empowering Others
By giving back to the poor and creating job opportunities, I hope to empower others who, like me, may have once been in difficult circumstances. I want to mentor others and help them succeed, just as I’ve worked to do for myself. My business would not only provide employment but also act as a platform for personal growth and uplifting communities.
In summary, my goal isn’t just to build a successful business in hospitality; it’s to create something that touches lives, gives back to those who need it, and expands worldwide. Grad school will equip me with the skills and knowledge to turn this vision into reality, while always keeping in mind the people I aim to help along the way.

Graduate school interests

1. Enhancing Leadership and Management Skills
In grad school, I would deepen my knowledge of leadership, team management, and business operations. I’d gain the tools I need to make key decisions, manage diverse teams, and ensure the smooth running of a hotel or hospitality business, which is critical for any future leadership roles I pursue.
2. Specializing in Hotel and Event Management
This program would allow me to specialize in hotel management or event planning, areas I’m truly passionate about. Whether it’s managing guest services or organizing corporate events, I’d learn the strategic planning and organizational skills needed to succeed in these fields.
3. Mastering Operational Knowledge
Through this program, I’d gain expertise in finance, marketing, and operations management, all tailored to the hospitality industry. These skills will be invaluable if I want to run my own hotel, resort, or event management company one day, giving me the confidence to handle day-to-day operations and long-term planning.
4. Building a Global Perspective and Network
Hospitality is a global industry, so this program would offer me the chance to learn about international business and cross-cultural management. I’d also be able to network with industry professionals, professors, and potential employers, which would open up exciting opportunities both locally and internationally.
5. Staying Ahead with Technology
With technology transforming the hospitality industry, this program would ensure I stay on top of trends like online booking platforms and customer experience innovations. I’d gain practical knowledge of how to leverage technology to improve operational efficiency and enhance guest satisfaction.
6. Expanding Career Opportunities
This graduate degree would give me the qualifications I need to step into higher-level roles, like hotel manager or event director, and open doors to exciting career paths in hospitality management. It would also provide me with the tools to start my own business or take on leadership positions in large hospitality chains.
With this degree, I would be fully equipped to excel in the dynamic world of hospitality management and move closer to my dream of being a leader in the industry.
