Hello! My name is Taylor Townsend and I am 20 years old. I am from Chicago, IL but I currently reside in Calumet City, IL. I am a Senior at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. I am currently majoring in psychology and will obtain my BA in psychology May 2015. I have high hopes of going to graduate school to eventually obtain my PhD in clinical psychology, focusing on the psychopathology of adolescents and college-aged adults in regards to drug use/abuse.

This scholarship awards students who are first generation students in their families and allows them the resources to become successful in college and their intended career paths.
Goals and interests
- Career goal
I would like to be a clinical psychologist and focus on the psychopathology of adolescents and college-aged adults in relation to drug use/abuse. I am very interested in this subject because I have grown up with family and friends that have suffered from drug use and abuse either directly or indirectly. I would love to study the long term effects of drug abuse in the brain, as well as environmentally.
- Graduate school interests
I am interested in obtaining a PhD. I would love to stay in my city, Chicago IL, and go to school. I've looked into many doctoral programs here and am excited to take the necessary steps to get into one of them in the future.
- Outside the classroom
I love crafting! Being in a sorority has made me appreciate the art and it calms me so much! Pinterest is my go to for all things craft!
