About

I am a doctoral student in Health Services at Walden University with a passion for improving healthcare through research, writing, and public education. My current research focuses on severe maternal morbidity in Tennessee and the patient- and hospital-level factors associated with preventable maternal complications. Beyond academia, I am a published author, entrepreneur, and lifelong volunteer dedicated to making complex information accessible and meaningful. Whether conducting research, writing books, or serving my community, my goal is to educate, advocate, and create positive change by helping people make informed decisions and feel less alone during difficult experiences.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Upon completing my doctorate, I hope to build a career that combines healthcare research, policy development, public health advocacy, and education. My goal is to conduct research that improves maternal healthcare outcomes while translating complex scientific findings into practical information for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the public. I also plan to continue publishing both fiction and nonfiction books, using storytelling and education to increase health literacy, encourage resilience, and make difficult topics more accessible. Ultimately, I hope to bridge the gap between research and real-world impact through writing, speaking, and evidence-based healthcare leadership.

Graduate school interests

My graduate interests include maternal health, healthcare quality improvement, health policy, epidemiology, healthcare disparities, implementation science, patient-centered care, and quantitative research methods. I am particularly interested in understanding how patient- and hospital-level factors influence severe maternal morbidity and how research can be translated into policy changes that improve outcomes for mothers and families. I am also passionate about science communication and making academic research accessible to broader audiences through writing and public education
