About

My name is Terry Smith. I am a senior working toward a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Health Studies. My expected graduation date is Summer 2016. I transferred to Texas Southern University in 2014 with an Associate in Arts (AA) degree from Copiah-Lincoln Community College located in Wesson, Mississippi where I received an AA degree. Since that time, I have been taking courses primarily in my major. In those classes, I have consistently gotten a grade of B or higher. My current GPA is 3.19.At TSU, I am a member of the football team, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Collegiate 100, and Health and Kinesiology Club. To begin, I am a country boy who has big dreams. I was born in Port Gibson, Ms. There I graduated from Port Gibson High School in 2012. Immediately after graduation, I began attending Copiah-Lincoln Community College where I was also a member of the 2012 Mississippi Junior College Football State Championship Team . Throughout my life, I have been involved in community service. I am eager to learn, competitive, positive, and wish to make a big impact in our society. I enjoy animals, having fun, being outdoors and performing outdoor activities. I also enjoy learning new things to help me become a better man and role model. I am good with communicating with and helping others as well as with working in groups where we all have to brainstorm to come up with ideas. After college, I plan on pursuing my dream of becoming a health educator because health is an important aspect in life that many people struggle with on a daily basis. I am especially interested in helping to reduce the health disparities that are found among African Americans. My intellectual skills are what keep me ahead in my academics. One reason is because when it comes down to my class assignments, homework, and projects, I master getting different assignments done on time. Even though I am a student-athlete, I find no excuse when it comes tomaking sure I excel in my studies. The reason is because I am very self-motivated, and when I put my mind to something, I try my hardest to do my best. My long-term goal is to become a health professional or Physical Education Teacher and Coach.
