Recently, when I was laid off due to COVID 19 after 28 years of teaching with no hope of obtaining future work, I realized it was time to start searching for a second career. I used web tools that offered interest testing and suggested jobs that fit one's interests, skills, and passions. Human Resources was at the top of my list. A Human Resource Training and Development Specialist position is a perfect fit for me, allowing me to continue using the skills I have developed over the years and the new skills I will gain from the degree I am currently earning in Human Resources and Business at Highline College. The most important aspect of my future job would be to continue helping people grow and develop to obtain more in their lives. I want to work for a large company with a strong focus on building an equitable and inclusive work environment. I have been trained in Inclusive Pedagogy, and my dream is to be part of and Human Resource Team that is eager for all members to be recognized for their value and supported in all aspects of employment growth. Upon graduation, I will seek a positional opportunity to develop online training segments and deliver live presentations as I have 28 years of teaching experience online and in the classroom. My ideal position would allow me to move up to be a vice president of workforce development within 5 to 7 years. I would enjoy working for a company that promotes within and mentors and supports their employees’ future development. I hope to be able to travel for periodic training sessions or conferences. Travel is my passion, so I desire a company that has an international reach.
