About

I am currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration after more than a decade in public service. Returning to graduate school was both a personal and professional challenge. After being diagnosed and treated for ADHD later in life, I began to understand that many of the academic struggles I experienced were not a reflection of my intelligence or potential. Earning my degree has become an opportunity to challenge those assumptions, prove to myself what I am capable of, and accomplish a goal I once thought was out of reach. Today, I maintain a 4.0 GPA, the strongest academic performance of my life.

I am passionate about leadership, organizational culture, and creating environments where people can succeed. My long-term goal is to help build workplaces that better support neurodivergent employees and recognize different ways of thinking as strengths. I believe organizations perform best when they create opportunities for everyone to thrive.

Outside of work and school, I am taking on a growing caregiving role for my aging mother and enjoy spending time with my two dogs, French Fry and Tootsie Roll. My experiences have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the value of continuous growth, qualities I bring to both my education and my work in public service.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My long-term goal is to serve in executive leadership within local government. I am particularly interested in organizational development, change management, and creating workplace cultures that enable employees to succeed. Throughout my career, I have seen how organizational culture can influence employee engagement, innovation, retention, and overall effectiveness. I believe strong leaders have a responsibility to create environments where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to contribute their best work.

I am also passionate about promoting greater understanding of neurodiversity in the workplace. My own experiences have shown me that talented employees can struggle when organizations rely on rigid assumptions about how people learn, communicate, or perform. As I continue to advance in my career, I hope to help build workplaces that recognize different strengths, provide meaningful support, and create opportunities for employees with diverse perspectives to thrive.

Graduate school interests

I am most interested in studying leadership, organizational development, and change management within the public sector. Throughout my career, I have become increasingly interested in the factors that shape organizational culture and employee success. I am particularly drawn to topics related to employee engagement, workplace effectiveness, and creating environments where people with different backgrounds, experiences, and thinking styles can thrive. These interests complement my long-term goal of serving in executive leadership and helping organizations navigate meaningful change.

Outside the classroom

My hobbies include reading, graphic design, drawing, painting, crochet, sewing, and other creative projects. I enjoy learning new skills and often spend my free time exploring leadership and personal development topics. I am also actively involved in volunteering with professional associations and enjoy spending time with my husband and our two dogs, French Fry and Tootsie Roll.
