Reading can be very intimidating especially when there are issues with speech and phonics. It is empowering to see how engaged the younger children become in reading when interactive recall is incorporated. The public library affords me the opportunity to interact with children from my community and have an impact on their lives. I use tools and techniques I've learned over the years to make reading aloud fun! My objective is to help remove stigmas, reduce anxiety, promote comprehension, and improve speech and diction. In addition to reading, I also assemble arts and crafts projects, assist with decorating and setting up for activities, catalogue books, and prep old books and media for discard. I find promoting literacy and volunteering at the public library very rewarding!
