About

My name is Timara Lewis, and I am currently studying psychology in college. Since English is my natural language, I am unable to say that I am learning it; but I am learning two others: Spanish and American Sign Language. (The latter was not available in the language section below.) I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Ohio, born in Columbus but then raised in a small village named Wheelersburg. I suppose I would call myself a scholar if one were to ask because I love to learn new things, and I do read and write quite often. Perhaps it was the act of delving into mysterious worlds of fantasy books, or the people-watching and the character-creating that comes with being a writer, that sparked my interest in psychology. People fascinate me, and I have found over the years that I do have a heart for them. Growing up, I was quiet and smiley; my friends would always talk to me about their troubles even before I knew I wanted to be a therapist. Further, I found that I had an intense interest for the human brain--how it worked, how powerful it is . . .It is an incredible thing. Psychology combines my two fascinations--people and the human brain--so it is the perfect fit for me. I was in love the minute of my first class, and I knew I had found the path to the rest of my life. Oh, some people from my church wrinkled their noses, believing that it was too secular for someone raised in the Faith like me, but I begged to differ. The Lord is THE great Counselor, and He discerns the hearts of men; all He stands for is His people and love. And to me, that is what being a therapist is all about: to love and help others.
