About
Tynisa Batemon is a multimedia journalist for Your News Now and has been there since July 2013. She then was able to get to know West Central Ohio as a journalist. In June 2014, Tynisa was promoted to the five and ten o’clock Fox anchor.
Before joining the team, Tynisa was a multimedia journalist and co-anchor for Fast Track, Purdue University's student television news. She also interned for WEIU, in Charleston, Illinois, as an anchor, reporter, producer. Tynisa began her news journey at WLFI, in West Lafayette, IN as an intern.
Tynisa received her degree in Mass Communication at Purdue University in December 2012 and she currently in process of getting her Masters Degree in Communication from Purdue as well. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, but traveled the world as a military dependent. Although Tynisa has traveled all over the world, she says she will always be a Hoosier at heart.
During her time at Purdue as an undergraduate student, Tynisa was very proud to leave the university with a mark. Earlier in 2013, Fast Track was awarded first place at The Broadcast Education Association awards for its winning piece Fast Track Best of Fall 2012 for the category television newscast airing four or five days per week.
Although, a Masters degree is not necessary her field, Tynisa is continuing to reach for the stars. There is a great deal of competition in the field and it is still a male dominated industry. As a young female journalist, who is attempting to go back to school, the degree will help separate Tynisa from both males and females in her field. In addition, the degree will distinguish her from her peers and it will be an accomplishment and a distinct addition she can carry with her forever.
What Tynisa loves most about reporting is being able to do what she loves most everyday, by being creative and interacting daily with people. Tynisa says meeting people and making a difference in everyday life is just a plus. But she knows if she touches at least one person with her stories then she knows she is doing her job.
When Tynisa isn't working or studying, she enjoys catching up with her family, watching movies, and getting updated on her favorite series and shows.
Tynisa is happy to call the Buckeye state her home and cant wait to continue to explore the state and meet more Ohioans. She says she's even more excited to see the Big Ten schools go head to head.
Since being in Lima, Tynisa has participated in Bridging the Gap, mentoring at the Impact Center’s after school program, and reading for Head Start students.
