About

I have been a member of the Newton County 4-H program for nine years. I’ve also provided leadership for various workshops and activities for youth in the Newton county area, as well as, surrounding counties. My main 4H projects have been Clothing Selection, Leadership and Health. I have competed on the local, district and state levels with 4-H, where I’ve placed either first or second in several competitions. I have also assisted the Nutrition Educator with Kids in the Kitchen and the Mississippi State University Extension Agents with various camps like Project G.A.P (Gaining Awareness of Possibilities) and Summer of Innovation camps. Helping those in need has always been a passion; therefore, I have come to love volunteering at the nursing home, serving lunch at love’s kitchen for the homeless, and assisting with raising money at bike-a-thons to support the St. Jude Hospital. In the county, I have served on the Junior Council, Health Rocks team, and Newton Teen Council. In 2011, I attended a six-week course with the Mississippi School of Protocol and Etiquettes. At the close of the course, I attended an awards ceremony where I received a certificate of completion. I help to educate Newton youth on various topics, specifically Teens against Tobacco Use. I actively serve on the Teens against Tobacco Use Coalition and a focus group with SRG. I am also a current member of the US Congressional Awards program. For which, I have given back more than 150 hours in volunteer service. During a recent awards ceremony, I also received the Outstanding Senior 4-Her award for 2015. In school, I am a member of the BETA club and Student Council. I have passed all of my Subject Area Testings. These tests include algebra, biology, english, and history.
