About
I am a full-time final semester graduate student studying in the field of social work and I have a 4.0 G.P.A. I worked in the mental health field prior to starting graduate school which is what made me choose to pursue social work as my career goal. I am very passionate about helping others by being an advocate for those who need a voice. Currently I mentor in a local non-profit organization called P.E.A.R.L.S. Girls which is an organization that helps underprivileged and troubled teen girls. I have been with this organization for a year and a half. The focus of this organization is to give these teens coping skills along with empowering them to become upstanding and educated young women. My practicum is at a local homeless shelter called L.A.M.P. where I have enjoyed working with the residents and getting to know them on a more personal level by gaining rapport. Along with my 16 hour per week practicum, I also have 5 other classes. Being very dedicated to what I was called to do is what I thrive on from a day-to-day basis. I wake up every morning to be a blessing to someone else.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I intend to work with the military in some capacity but my heart is in mental health. I would love to work with active duty, retired, and disabled veterans. I am a disabled veteran and I have a true passion for everything military. I can no longer serve my country as an active duty member. However, I would love to be able to continue to serve in any way I can.
- Graduate school interests
My interest in grad school is to continue in the path of making the grades and graduating with honors. I also want to attend Advocacy Day in Atlanta Georgia this year to network with individuals that I may be able to reach out to as a resource in the near future. I am interested in helping to rewrite grants to include a better mental health component for homeless shelters where hopefully more money will be allocated to care for those homeless individuals who have extensive mental health issues.
- Outside the classroom
Singing and writing poems and songs are my favorite hobbies. I also love to cook different dishes.
