About
My name is Virgil McCrary, and I am studying to be a Information Systems major with a concentration in Cyber-Security at the illustrious University of Alabama at Birmingham. While attending UAB, I switched my major in the spring of 2019. As a freshman, I came in with the intent to graduate an engineer, but with the prideful heart that I had, I was quickly humbled. I graduated High School with a 3.99 GPA, only making one B in high school. So, I believed that college would be a breeze as well and couldn't be as hard as everyone said it would be. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that I wasn't going to be able to mess around and ace tests without studying like I did in High School. It took a huge hit on my G.P.A., and I ended up losing all of my scholarships. By the Grace of GOD, I was able to stay in school, HE has helped me in the classroom tremendously. This past year--my junior year--I have made nothing but 10 A's and a C, making the Dean's list last semester and the President's list this semester. I wish to not to be judged on my past work ethic and failures, but to be judged on the promise of my dedication to my future studies and places of establishments that will employ me. I want to do things that have never been done. I want to bring joy into the classroom and let students know that there's nothing lame about participating in class. I want to bring encouragement and life into my future jobs. I just want to change the world.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I want to be the Manager of the Information Systems and the Cyber-Security department of a company. My dream job is to work for my ministry!!! I met my LORD JESUS CHRIST at a ministry called R.A.N.S.O.M. (Radical Athletes aNd Students Oasis Ministry). This ministry has changed my life. I will never forget that night that I felt the love of CHRIST for the first time. Two years later, now, I'm a campus leader. We've grown exponentially; we asked GOD for a bus, and HE gave us two. What am I getting at? We have faith that GOD will give us a Retreat Center. I believe it will be huge! We're going big! We want it to be a place where hundreds, thousands, millions, and billions of students can come and meet JESUS CHRIST. It will be a retreat center with a full basketball court, football field, sleeping rooms, a kitchen, sanctuary, and living room! However, for all of that, we will need someone to control the information systems and cyber-security. I would love to work here! That is my dream!!! However, if that doesn't work out, I will go wherever the LORD will lead me.
- Graduate school interests
I wouldn't mind going to grad school, but I would not want to pay for it. I would definitely go if my job sent me to get my master's. However, with the emergence of digital certifications, that would be the quickest and easiest way to go.
- Outside the classroom
I like spending time with my family, talking nice walks with GOD, reading the Bible, conducting Bible Studies, playing basketball (I don't play as much as I should), and playing video games (barely).
